The Avenue post top outdoor luminaire from Thorn has won a Red Dot Product Design Award
With a distinctive design and lighting signature, Avenue is an ideal choice for urban spaces. Dark Sky Approved – it features near-zero upward light for minimising sky glow and advanced Zhaga control allows Avenue to be integrated into smart systems for remote monitoring and configuration, saving energy and reducing maintenance costs.
Created in collaboration with Danish industrial design company, LyhneDesign, the Avenue family consists of various post-tops for seamless urban integration. But it’s Avenue’s strong silhouette, based around the perfect triangle concept, which is key to establishing its distinctive aesthetic.
Thorn’s Director of Product & Application Management for Outdoor, Eliot Horsman said “We are incredibly proud that Avenue has won a Red Dot Award. All products in the Avenue family are built on Thorn’s Quad modular platform (patent pending). Designed to take outdoor sustainability to the next level, the Quad platform enhances upgradability and optimises refurbishment to extend the product lifecycle. Avenue is also consciously developed to minimise environmental impact, incorporating 68% recycled materials and achieving 80% recyclability.
The jury statement from the panel of international experts echoed these qualities;
“The Avenue urban outdoor luminaire stands out for its modularity, which gives it a high degree of design flexibility. Its sleek form is also appealing.”
