Each year on May 16th, people all around the globe celebrate the International Day of Light. Why? It was on this day in 1960 that physicist and engineer Theodore Maiman completed the first successful laser operation. This highlights the significance of light - and studying it has resulted in advancements in medical technologies and treatments, alternative energy sources, the internet and other important discoveries that shape the world in which we live. On the International Day of Light, UNESCO calls to strengthen scientific cooperation and harness its potential to foster peace and sustainable development. As a lighting manufacturer - we too celebrate this important day and reflect on our almost 100-year-history and the many advancements we've been part of in transforming indoor and outdoor lighting solutions and controls and connectivity technologies. Together - let's shape the future of lighting for many more years to come.
