New Hess by Thorn show garden opens at Thorn Academy of Light

The Thorn Academy of Light in Spennymoor has launched a new Hess by Thorn show garden. More than 30 customers attended an opening event on Thursday 29 November, which included an introduction to Hess by Thorn and an inspirational presentation about the relationship between art and light by guest speaker, architect and lighting designer, Ruairi O'Brien. Following the presentations, guests were taken outside to experience the new show garden.

Andrew Pluntke, Business Development Manager at Hess, led the tour and explained the new Hess by Thorn luminaires and street furniture. The entire range is designed to beautify and integrate a whole city square with a single design language. The furniture range on show in the garden includes Positano illuminating seats, Punto waste receptacles and Argo benches. The luminaires include the New York, Tensso and Linea lanterns. The garden also includes Ledia LL lighting effects, the Metor tree guard and the City Elements family, which in addition to lighting can accommodate electricity, water and CCTV.

Martin Thompson, the Thorn Academy of Light Manager, explains: "The tour took guests through the existing Thorn ranges and then into the new Hess by Thorn garden of decorative products. Ruairi O'Brian explained how light, architecture and the Hess by Thorn style work together. He used a mix of common thought, light theory and practical execution to improve and develop understanding.

"It was clear Ruairi has a good comprehension of the subject and the type of scenarios that are regularly encountered. The Hess by Thorn luminaires certainly create stylish options which extend beyond Thorn's performance range. Feedback from the event was very positive and we look forward to hosting many more visits here."
